MEMORIAL DAY DUI ENFORCEMENT
(5/22/2008) NEW HAVEN Chief Stephanie Redding wants the Citys residents and visitors to have a safe and enjoyable summer. To that end, the New Haven Police Department is mobilizing its resources over this Memorial Day weekend to get impaired drivers off the road and warn others: Drunk Driving Over the Limit, Under Arrest.
So far in 2008, officers specially trained in DUI detection have made over 125 arrests for driving under the influence.
Beginning on Friday, May 25, the New Haven Police Department again will be setting up sobriety checkpoints and conducting saturation patrols in neighborhoods throughout the city. Impaired drivers will be subject to immediate arrest.
Sobriety checkpoints may be in place at the following locations:
State Street between James and Blatchley
North Frontage between Ella Grasso Boulevard and Orchard
Whalley Avenue between Fitch and Ella Grasso Boulevard
College Street between Chapel and North Frontage
Through strict enforcement of impaired driving laws, the New Haven Police Department wants to ensure a safe and fun holiday season for everyone traveling in our city.
